Rwanda's Ministry of Education (MINEDUC), in collaboration with the National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA), has released the official 2026/2027 school calendar, outlining the opening and closing dates for school terms, holiday periods, and the national examination schedule.
According to the calendar, Term One will begin on Monday, September 7, 2026, and end on Friday, December 18, 2026, lasting 15 weeks, followed by a two-week holiday. Term Two will run from January 4 to April 2, 2027, for 13 weeks, while Term Three will start on April 19 and end on July 2, 2027, lasting 11 weeks. Students will then begin a two-month long holiday.
The calendar also provides important dates for national examinations. Practical examinations for students in PBA, TSS, TTC, ACC, and ANP programs are scheduled from May 31 to June 18, 2027. The Primary Leaving Examinations will take place from July 6 to July 8, 2027, while the Secondary National Written Examinations are planned for July 14 to July 23, 2027.
Education officials say the calendar is intended to help schools, teachers, students, and parents prepare effectively for the academic year. By following the schedule, schools are expected to complete teaching on time and ensure learners are well prepared for their national examinations.
